I realize the Bix 7 is coming up very soon, I have not really added any jogging into my exercise routine so I really don't know how much I am going to run in that race, but based on a couple of my long walks that I have completed I should be able to finish the Bix in under 2 hours, my goal is under 90 minutes so hopefully I can get some running in (That goal does not count the 30-60 minutes it could take me to just get the starting line).
In order to help me out with the running, a friend told me about an app that is called Couch to 5k which works with your iTouch or iPhone and lets you gradually work up to race day. It allows you to use your own music and gives you audio cues as to when you should start jogging and then switch back to walking. I look forward to trying that out.
I am going to be joining up with Core Fitness in North Liberty and working out with a trainer a few times a week. That should help.
I received my Gruve after I got home from vacation and started using it this week. It is a very addicting little gadget. You can sync it up to the Gruve website and it gives you the calories that you burned each day and you can break that down to hourly and even how many you burned each minute! It is a great addition to the "accountability" factor and it is very easy to use. I have been telling everyone I know about it!
Here is a picture of my daughter and I trying to push over the Washington Monument in Washington, DC. I would have worn the shirt, but it was too hot that day!
