Starting Tomorrow!

Well, I am finally getting back into the groove of everything. My schedules are calming down. I have been getting in some really good workouts lately. Tomorrow I start the Live Healthy Iowa 100 Day Challenge at work, I hope this will give me something to keep motivated throughout the rest of the winter.
Should be very interested in seeing what I can pick up through this website and maybe try to get my eating under control. I don't think I eat too bad, but I do go out to eat too much. I need more ideas for better things to eat.

Here is another part of my journey, let's see what I can do.

Winter Blahs!

I sit here, feeling defeated. I just went downstairs to try and exercise and I only got in about 10 minutes before I gave up. I really don't understand what happens to my body in the winter, I do shut down!
I have signed up at my work to do a "100 day challenge." I hope that will help me get back to moving and working out on a regular basis, I get into it a little bit and then just stop for no real reason! I am still down 41 lbs from when I started. So over the holidays I did gain 9 lbs. (Yes I finally put a battery in the scale!)
When I run on the treadmill I feel like I am just beginning again, that is not good considering I want to run the Bix 7 in the summer, a 7-mile race.
I hope to keep moving and losing weight, but I am really having trouble finding the motivation to keep this up.
I want to say good luck to some of my friends who are starting the Farrell's Bodyshaping program this week!

New Year

Well, it has been awhile since I have updated this blog. Time just gets by so quickly sometimes. I was on the radio with KZIA a couple weeks ago and gave them an update on how everything was going. I am still doing ok, I am still working out on a regular basis, I have just been very busy in December and have not been on a regular schedule. Work has taken me to New York, family has taken me to Atlanta, and I had to squeeze in some time to finish two classes that I was in, so I am hoping that this new year will get me back on a regular schedule.
I am not sure where I am on weight loss right now, because the battery in my scale is dead and I have to replace those. I will try to keeep this updated more often. Thanks for following.

Check up

Wow, sorry it has been a couple of weeks since I posted anything, but it has been a busy time in my life.
It was amazing to see Matt and Suzy Hoover, they gave a great speech at my daughter's elementary school. Thanks again to both of them.
Tomorrow, my wife, daughter, and I are going to participate in the Girls on the Run
5K run, this is the end of a 10 week program for my daughter, I am proud of her! I am also very proud of my wife coming out and participating too. Love you Wendy.

I did also reach a pretty big milestone, on Thursday I weighed myself and I was at 282.4, which means that I have lost 50 lbs since I started this journey. Not to shabby!

Fun for Tomorrow!

Well tomorrow should be a fun day. I get to see Matt and Suzy Hoover give a speech to my daughter's school. Then we are going to have a "Brotherhood" and "Sisterhood" get together. Then I get to run a practice 5K with my daughter. I am a little worried, because of this cold weather, I have not been outside running much, I have been biking inside and trying to run on my treadmill, but I just can not run as long on my treadmill as I can outside so I hope I can make it the entire 5K! I already know my daughter will beat me, I can accept that fact, but I just want to make sure I finish!
Getting closer to loosing 50 lbs...

TODAY'S WEIGHT: 284.0 lbs.

Coming back.

Well, I have been away from the blog for a little while. I have been very busy with my work, my school courses, and my benefit. Now things seem to be slowing down a little so I can get back to the exercise routine. I am still having trouble switching over to "winter" mode. I do not do the cold very well, so I do not get out to do my early morning runs that I love so much!

Even though I have not been able to exercise as much as I did before, I am still heading downward. I am getting closer to losing 50 lbs. But now that I have said that I will probably curse myself.

A pretty busy week though, I get to see Matt Hoover again this Friday, and meet his wife Suzy as well, they are going to give a presentation to my daughter's school, should be fun.

Also on Friday, I get to be a running buddy with my daughter as we run a practice 5K. As I mentioned before she has been working with the Girls on the Run program, she is working towards running a 5k on Nov. 13. She is only 8!! She is doing excellent work! I can not wait to run with her and have her beat me by at least 15 minutes probably :)

TODAY'S WEIGHT: 285.2 lbs.

Marla Bea Benefit Today

A quick post today, I have been very busy the last couple weeks with planning my online fundraising benefit to my sister and mom. The auction starts today around 4 pm CST on ebay (the seller name is "marlabeabenefit").
So I have to admit I have not been focusing on my exercise as much as I should, but I am still hanging around 288 so at least I am not putting weight back on. I know I need to just watch my eating, but mostly I need to stop drinking so much soda, it is amazing how quickly that can sneak back in when you are not thinking about it! Sneaky little soda!
I did run in the Especially for you 5k that Mercy Hospitals in Cedar Rapids puts on. All the funding goes to help fight breast cancer as well. There were about 15,000 people this year, and I actually saw Letha, the Sisterhood of the Traveling Shirt, and a couple of other close friends (Tad and Kelly). It is amazing how you can be in such a crowd and still find people you know.
Well, if you have time check out www.MarlaBeaBenefit.com and bid on some artwork!
